First, bake a cake in 2 nine inch round pans.
Pop them out of the pans (you greased them well, right?)
Eat one. Freeze the other, loosely wrapped in wax paper.
Put cake on your desired cake plate and
tuck scraps of wax paper under the edges.
Put it back in the freezer.
Line a cake pan with saran wrap and fill with softened ice cream.
It takes almost a whole box of icecream to fill the pan.
Press it down to fill in the edges. Freeze until hard.

Pop the molded icecream out using the saran wrap edges.
Press it on top of the cake. Put it back in the freezer.
Quick, it's melting! Put it back in the freezer.
Put some of the "frosting" back in the freezer too, for touch ups.

Thanks for the cake Sydney. It was delicious! Brenda, you should write a cook book for kids in this same format. Father's day was a treat, as is fatherhood. Thanks for making it special, Mike
I agree, that would be a great cookbook. Sydney could help!
Looks good. Finished with a little "Hop on Pop".
Ummm, yum! Good job, Syd & crew!
bake 2, eat 1--now that's a good plan!
Yummy! It looks great!!
The cake looks amazing! I want it!
I love it! Looks like a lot of fun but a lot of work also.
So, did she really frost it all by herself? It looks perfect. Nice and smooth and very edible. Well done:0)
