Okay, I stole that title from Berkeley's "my uncle can run farther than your uncle" post. But my brother, Neil Olsen, yes, THE Neil Olsen, won the Hagg Lake 50 K on Saturday (and set a course record), so I just have to brag, even though I personally can't run more than a few miles. 50 kilometers is like... a LOT, more than a marathon, about 30 miles? And he kept a 7:20 pace, on muddy trails. Crazy. Here he is, presumably about to pass this joker in yellow. Or maybe yellow man is doing the 25 K. Anyway, Neil is in white.
Stay tuned for his first 100 mile race, the Western States 100, in June. For pete's sake, Neil, start a blog! http://roguevalleyrunners.blogspot.com/2008/02/hagg-lake-50-kilometer-trail-race.html

holy cow! That is some serious running. Way to have a fast runner for a brother Brenda. I like the "joker in yellow" comment. That's rich. I need to remember to use the term joker more often in daily conversation. It makes me giggle.
that is insane! why would anyone choose to run that long?! way to go brenda! good use of the cool brother card!
Hey, I hope you'll blog about Bonds That Make Us Free. On the one hand, I love it. On the other hand, I feel I shouldn't have to take responsibility for other people's bad choices.
Well, if I had a brother, your brother would definitely run faster—and farther! That is amazing.
We were talking about amazing Neil on our run today and trying to figure out how he has such super-human powers. We couldn't figure it out and decided we would never want to run that far anyway. It takes a special kind of person to pull that off.
I'm in Awe! That is so great!
Whatever, Heid! You run marathons. To me, what you do is just as remote as what he does. If it's genetic, I hope my kids got some of it. But I think it passed me by.
That is amazing. I want a cool brother like that too. I can actually say that because I don't have any brothers.
Neil is a speed demon! Way to go Neil!
I feel really good when I run 4 miles under 9 min miles. that is really fast! None of my brothers run. So I think you win.
