Among a billion other reasons, it's an excuse to get excited about things. Things an adult isn't supposed to be excited about, like an airplane flying by, a squirrel in the tree outside, or cupcakes with sprinkles...
Or the next HARRY POTTER MOVIE!!!

Our family's counting the days too! Not with a paper chain, though, that was a nice touch.
I know, I'm so grateful to have kids during these HP years. Do you let 12 yos see it in the theater?
@ Angela--I don't know! I might even take a 9 yo. She's read them all and seen all the others. In fact, she's probably got the stomach for it where the 11 yo does not. And it's not like I'm the primary president (anymore). ;0)
