instruments of rock

Our boy Sam started sixth grade band and chose the flute as his instrument. Mike was worried that it's a bit effeminate, but Sam would not be dissuaded. My feeling is that any instrument can rock. So the other night I showed them a flute solo by Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull. Just watch a few minutes and I think you'll agree, a manly man can play the flute just fine.

Go Sam! It may just be "Hot Cross Buns" for now, but you're rockin' it!

Wow! Ian Anderson was amazing. Sam, I can't wait to see you pull of the snort and play technique. ; )

Okay, that was supposed to say "pull off."

Mark introduced me to Jethro Tull when I was little. Very cool indeed

Go flautist Sam!
But most people don't try to make vocal noises at the same time as playing the flute!

With most kids I'd tend to think like Mike. The flute is a bit effeminate. But Same can pull anything off. He's definitely an exception. Go Sam!

I think that is the coolest thing EVER, Sam playing the flute.

Is sam watching tv while he plays? You guys must have worn out the YouTube video, could't get it to load. Peter Piper is a man and he picked a peck of pickled peppers.

I think a position amongst flautists (or perhaps clarinetists) makes for much more interesting social opportunities than the brass or percussion sections. Smooth, Sam.
